The Library

In the RAF Club Library you will find a wide range of newspapers, magazines and books, and complete peace and quiet for relaxed reading and personal letter writing. Members visiting the Club are more than welcome to come in to browse - and also to chat to any of the Librarians who happen to be there.

The library continues to expand with over 1500 volumes, all of which are donations. We have a wide range of subjects and a very good balance between them. Some authors have been able to present their signed copies in person which is always an enjoyable occasion.

Work is in progress on re-positioning the books around the library as far as possible in alphabetical order by category (categories run from A to J) with a separate section for oversize books. With the steady increase in stocks, new shelving has been installed in the centre area of the library. Visitors commend its suitability and excellent design. These shelves are on castors to enable them to be moved if necessary.

Here you will find a wide range of newspapers, magazines and books, and complete peace and quiet for relaxed reading and personal letter writing.

The purpose of the Library is to offer Members an opportunity for leisure reading while on the premises of the Club.

The library catalogue on the Club website has recently been fully updated and enables quick searches for books by category, title, author and by key word search. There is also a downloadable guide to the use of the library and the catalogue.

Donations

The purpose of the Library is to offer Members an opportunity for leisure reading while on the premises of the Club.

Each book donated is classified, catalogued and security tagged. The strength of the Library is the very high quality of the (aviation related) books and magazines donated by Members.

It would be extremely helpful if Members who are planning to offer books and magazines first write to the Club with full details and an indication of whether in the event of duplications they would wish them to be offered elsewhere.

Books may be borrowed for use during a visit to the Club but they must not be taken out of the building. A notice board is in course of preparation and on this will be placed a copy of the rules and guidance notes.
