An Evening with Garrison Sergeant Major Andrew “Vern” Stokes OBE, MVO, DL
Last week, Members and their guests enjoyed a fascinating evening with Garrison Sergeant Major Andrew “Vern” Stokes OBE, MVO, DL, Organiser of National & State Ceremonial Events, at the Club.
Following a Champagne reception and three-course dinner with paired wines, GSM Stokes joined Club Member Flight Lieutenant John Nichol for an engaging conversation, sharing remarkable stories from his distinguished military career and offering a rare glimpse behind the scenes of some of the nation’s most significant occasions. From the Platinum Jubilee to the State Funeral of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the Coronation of Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla, Members and guests gained a fascinating insight into the meticulous planning, precision and coordination behind these historic events.
The evening was graciously hosted by Club Trustee and Chair of the House Committee, Air Commodore Dai Whittingham, and we are also very grateful to GSM Stokes for such a captivating evening.
The event also supported GSM Stokes’ chosen charity, with £15 from every ticket sold donated to the cause.
