Announcement of the New Club Chair, Air Vice-Marshal Warren James CB CBE DL

Thursday 10th July 2025

With the departure of Air Vice-Marshal The Hon David Murray CVO, OBE, DL as the Club Chair, the Board of Trustees is delighted to announce the appointment of Air Vice-Marshal Warren James CB CBE DL, as the new Chair of the Club.

The Club would like to thank Air Vice-Marshal David Murray for his dedication, leadership, and support during his successful three-year tenure as Chair. He guided the Club through the end of the pandemic, the passing of Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, and leaves having seen an increase in serving Officers’ membership at the RAF Club and a return to surplus to support the charity and its Members. The refurbishment of The Running Horse will also be a very visible legacy for all to enjoy for years to come.

“The Club has been very fortunate to have David Murray as Chair, leading the Board of Trustees through a challenging period. Under his guidance, the Club has emerged stronger and more resilient than ever. He has been a great support to myself and the team, and I look forward to seeing him as a regular at the Club.”

— Miles Pooley, Chief Executive and Club Secretary
