Club Dinner Celebrating Sir Winston Churchill
Thursday 4th December 2025
On Sunday 30th November the Club played host to an incredible and memorable celebration of Sir Winston Churchill, on what would have been his birthday.
We were delighted to welcome Seb Cox OBE, the former Head of the RAF’s Air Historical Branch, who captivated the event and his audience with his remarkable insights and anecdotes about Sir Churchill's life, legacy and connection to the Royal Air Force.
Our Club-owned 'Churchill violin' took a night away from its home in the Churchill bar to serenade our guests throughout the dinner. This remarkable instrument was crafted from his very own original cigar boxes, and hearing it played live was a special time for history, craftsmanship and music to come together.
The evening began with a Pol Roger Champagne reception, renowned for being Sir Churchill's favourite aperitif, before guests sat down to a four-course meal based on his favourite dishes. Crafted by our Executive Chef, Elliot Plimmer, the meal included roast beef with Yorkshire pudding, individual classic trifles, followed by pear and Stilton. The meal was complete with wine pairings and a final toast of brandy.
It truly was a spectacular evening of history, music and heartfelt camaraderie, and one that the Club will long remember, and we are very grateful to the Club Trustee, Group Captain Jim Beldon MBE, for hosting this special evening.
