Meet the Speaker: Holocaust Survivor Dorit Oliver-Wolff BEM

Tuesday 6th February 2024

Introducing the incredible Dorit Oliver-Wolff BEM: A holocaust survivor, acclaimed singer and inspirational speaker.

We are very excited to welcome Dorit to the Club as our Guest Speaker for our Black-Tie Club Dinner on Tuesday 27th February, to share her incredible story with our Members.

From survival to success, Dorit's journey from fleeing the Nazis to becoming a chart-topping jazz singer is nothing short of remarkable. Her story embodies resilience, determination, and the triumph of the human spirit against all odds.

Music wasn't just a passion for Dorit; it was her lifeline during the darkest of times. Dorit hid in a cellar with her mother for nine months without light or heating, was betrayed and sent to a sorting house where she escaped hiding amongst dirty laundry. Dorit and her Mother faced many other narrow escapes as they survived years of terror taking up false identities just to stay alive.

The war was just the start of Dorit’s story as she then went on to join a touring dance group, become a pin-up model and sign a record deal and she toured Europe as a singer earning the name ‘Dorit the Voice’. Since retiring her singing career Dorit has dedicated her life to Holocaust Education and was awarded a British Empire Medal in 2019 for her work educating others with her incredible story in schools, colleges and as a public speaker.

Dorit’s reasoning in her own words is that ‘There aren’t many Holocaust survivors left so I feel it is my duty to tell our story to make sure history never repeats itself. If I can get through to at least one young person then I feel my job is done”

If you would like to hear more about Dorit’s remarkable story, Tickets for the event are available HERE.
