RAF 100 Celebrations at the Club

Monday 30th July 2018

On 10 July 2018, 100 days after its 100th birthday, the Royal Air Force celebrated its centenary year with an incredible parade and flypast over London. Over a thousand servicemen and women took part in the incredible parade on The Mall while Her Majesty The Queen, accompanied by The Prince of Wales, presented a new Queen's Colour to the RAF at a ceremony marking its centenary. The historic flypast took place over the Mall at Buckingham Palace where both members of the Royal Family and members of the public witnessed up to 100 aircraft representing the RAF’s long and enduring history. Just a few of the aircraft that took park in the special day included the Lancaster, the Hurricane, the Voyager, the Tornado GR4, and an incredible finale by the Red Arrows.

We continued the celebrations throughout the day at the Royal Air Force Club, welcoming many members back afterwards for some celebratory food and drink, while the Club also adorned an abundance of RAF100 flags, bunting and other decorations.

The flypast was certainly a spectacle never seen before and one that won’t be seen again for a very long time, and we were proud to have supported & participated in such an unforgettable #RAF100 day. Congratulations to the many Royal Air Force personnel involved in making the celebrations so memorable and we look forward to marking our own 100th birthday in October.
