Victory in Europe Celebrations at the Royal Air Force Club

Tuesday 13th May 2025

As we marked the celebrations of the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day, we honoured the courage, sacrifice, and enduring spirit of all who served. From the stirring flypast to the distinguished VE Day Club Dinner, the Royal Air Force Club proudly commemorated this historic milestone and paid tribute to the legacy of our heroes.

Flypast

With trails of patriotic colours, the Red Arrows performed a stunning flypast over London to commemorate 80 years since the end of the Second World War in Europe. Our Members and their guests filled the Cowdray Lounge to get a glimpse of this wonderful VE Day 80 event.

Afternoon Tea

Our VE Day-Themed Afternoon Tea was specially created to commemorate Victory in Europe Day at the Club. This celebratory menu features homemade sausage rolls served with Dijon mustard mayo, coronation chicken nestled in soft brioche, and a decadent sticky toffee sponge topped with a luxurious Caramélia ganache. A deliciously fitting tribute to a historic occasion.

VE Day Dinner

On Thursday 8th May, we had the profound honour of commemorating the 80th Anniversary of VE Day with a truly memorable evening at the Club. Our very special guest speaker was none other than Club Member, Flight Lieutenant Colin Bell DFC BEM AE, former Mosquito pilot and distinguished veteran of the Second World War.
